3.5-mile and 2.15-mile portions of the President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT)
North Texas Tollway Authority
Halff’s Visualization team was tasked to visualize a 1.8-mile portion of the Dallas North Tollway (DNT), plus 3.5-mile and 2.15-mile portions of the President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT) for the North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA). This comprised three separate areas total.
The NTTA’s goal for the visualization was to create public awareness and provide clarity for the widening efforts — creating a fourth lane in each direction for the DNT and PGBT. Halff won this contract through a formal interviewing process. This is the largest visualization effort the NTTA has initiated.
What impact would fourth lane addition make in these areas? Given the volume of the audience obtained through the local news and the NTTA’s public outreach website, Halff harnessed its capabilities in the high-definition visualization, as more than 32,000 frames were rendered. The render farm of 50 dedicated 24-hour computers ran flawlessly during the final rendering process. Well over 150,000 frames of HD resolution images were rendered throughout the project.
Halff impressively provided the ability to show a very realistic and accurate visualization of the widened tollway from both a helicopter view and driver’s eye view. The process allows the NTTA to receive project buy-in long before the excavator hits the pavement.
